West Virginia University School of Public Health is currently accepting applications for a Temporary Part-Time Chaperone for Youth Events.
About the Opportunity
As a Temporary Part-Time Chaperone for Youth Events, you will support efforts of the West Virginia Prevention Research Center’s (PRC) Youth Advisory Board (YAB) by chaperoning the annual multi-day YAB field trip.
This position plays a key role in ensuring the safety YAB members.
You will be part of the Department of Social & Behavioral Sciences.
This position reports to the Research Assistant Professor.
PAY GRADE – 12
Assignment Length: Approximately 1 month
What you’ll do:
Complete required training from WVU’s Children on Campus Program
Stay onsite with YAB members during the field trip, including acting as the main overnight chaperone; the trip takes place June 1 - 4 and requires three overnights onsite at Adventure WV
Qualifications
Associate's Degree in youth development, health, science, humanities or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience
A minimum of (6) months working with summer youth programs
Ability to problem-solve, to reconcile differences, and to resolve last minute crises in a successful manner
Ability to maintain proper attendance and punctuality standards
Group facilitation skills
Certifications:
WVU Children on Campus Training Certification (on the job training, required by WVU for youth programs)
