Insurance and Billing Specialist

```Duties``` - Review and analyze medical records and documentation to ensure accurate and timely billing and collections - Assign appropriate medical codes (ICD-10, ICD-9, DRG) to diagnoses and procedures - Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility - Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies - Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and resolve billing discrepancies - Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations - Collaborate with medical office staff to obtain necessary documentation for billing purposes - Stay updated on changes in medical coding guidelines and regulations - Answering phones and interacting with families ```Qualifications``` - High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical coding or billing is a plus - Proven experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting - Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems, and billing processes - Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical billing software - Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Ability to work independently as well as part of a team - Effective communication skills to interact with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers Note: This job description is intended to provide a general overview of the position.
