This position performs assigned tasks to aid in the provisions of patient care and daily operation of the Emergency Department in accordance with established nursing policies and procedures.
Provides patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1.
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
2.
Ability to maintain/update the computer competencies as required for the position
EXPERIENCE:
1.
NCA experience in a hospital or long-term care facility or EMT/paramedic or nursing student that has completed one clinical rotation

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.

1.
Provides and assists with patient care including basic hygiene, comfort, support and safety measures, nutrition and elimination needs, simple treatments and procedures, vital signs, weights, glucose monitoring and mobility utilizing proper tools and body mechanics appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
2.
Accurately and efficiently registers patients when working in the registration area.
3.
Receives and communicates patient information accurately; recognizes when to call or report information to the nurse.
4.
Performs EKGs.
5.
Answers call lights and performs purposeful rounding ensuring patient/family needs are being met.
6.
Documents assigned tasks according to policy and procedures appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
7.
Cleans all patient equipment as per policy.
Tags defective equipment and notifies appropriate department for repair.
8.
Transports patient and performs courier duties for the department.
9.
Performs efficiently in emergency situations such as Code 68, Code 99 and Code 44.
10.
Restocks and ensures adequate supplies for patient care such as locked carts, linen, instruments, etc.
, according to unit specific logs.
11.
Monitors and records temperature logs according to unit specific checklist.
12.
Maintains a neat and orderly nursing unit, hallways and utility rooms
13.
Other duties as assigned.
