Responsible for performing complex and multiple clerical support functions in the front office.
The position is in a physician office practice that has a high volume of public contact.
* Schedules provider appointments.
* Greets patients promptly and professionally and registers patients by gathering, verifying and entering in demographic and insurance information.
* Obtains all registration information and ensures the completeness of the patient medical record.
* Collects co-payments, co-insurances, deductibles, past due balances, and personal payments.
* Handles inquiries about insurances accepted, office hours, services, locations, exam fees, etc.
* Works with the technical staff to triage patient emergency calls.
* Accepts charges within the management information system and verifies accuracy.
* Maintains the general appearance of the waiting room or reception area.
* Effectively manages dynamic and potentially stressful patient encounters.
* Effectively learns to work within the scheduling and billing systems.
* Effectively learns to work within the electronic health record software.
* Maintains working knowledge of all office equipment.
* Participates in continuing education programs and quality improvement programs at the direction of the supervisor.
* Uses excellent guest relations skills in all interactions with patients, visitors and staff.
* Other duties as assigned.
*Qualifications*
* High school diploma or equivalent degree.
* Two years of experience working in a medical office setting.
* The ability to keep pace with a high volume of patient visits.
* Ability to travel to other offices on an as needed basis.

* Ability to enter data into a computer.
