Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist is responsible for providing surgeons with instruments and supplies, preparation of the sterile field, passing instruments, verifying sponge, needles and instrument count, and assisting with instrument processing if needed.
Performs all duties within OSHA, The Joint Commission (JC), AORN, and department policies and procedures.
The Surgical Technologist will assist the Administrator and the physicians in making start up purchases as well as ongoing equipment, instrument and supply planning; assist with inventory management, preference card management.
The Surgical Technologist will assist the Administrator in the start-up process of software dictionary building; staff training; support with software system; assist with schedule arrangement, create and maintain necessary logs.
Research and formulate plans to meet JC/CMS cfc’s.
Job Requirements
a.
Minimum Education Requirement : High School Diploma or GED.
b.
Minimum Experience Requirement : Successful completion of a Surgical Technology program or a LPN/Surgical Technician with previous surgical scrubbing experience in Orthopedics, Pain Management, experience normally acquired through on the job training in an OR setting is preferred.
Must possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to anticipate surgeon's needs during surgical procedures.
Effective interpersonal communication skills in order to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with surgeons, coworkers and administrative personnel.
c.
Minimum License Requirement : Must possess current BLS certification within probationary period, which is renewed every two years.
Current Surgical Technologist certification preferred.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
Heavy Work: Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs with a maximum lifting of 100 lbs.
